Inspiration
The Author's Prayer
"Our Father, which art in Heaven,
And has also written a book..."
That made me laugh out loud when I read it. I uncovered that gem at a website the great and fabulous Edie Ramer sent me today. She and some other authors have put together an inspirational site for writers that is definitely worth a visit (or several.) Here's the link: The Write Attitude - Inspiration for Writers.
If you need some inspiration, a kick in the pants, or both, that's the place to find it. :) I'm adding the label "Magical Mondays" to this post in spite of the fact that it's Tuesday, because this link came to me at exactly the right time, which is part of what my "Magical Monday" posts were about - the "coincidences" that fill our lives with magic.
Enjoy. :)
Kate, I'm so happy that the site inspired you. It makes me feel very, very proud. This is what all of us were looking to do. :)
ReplyDeleteHa ha - I love the way "Magic Mondays" fall on a Tuesday - maybe if Mondays were called Fancy Fridays, we'd all get along to work a bit cheerier after the weekend. I know a few bods around this office who would be quick to rock-up to work on mondays if they were called Felacious Fridays! But that's as much as I'm saying on those grounds.
ReplyDeleteEdie, you all have reason to be proud - of that site and Magical Musings.
ReplyDeleteDonkey - ROFLMAO. You may have just single-handedly revolutionized the workforce and solved the employee engagement issue. Well, at least for the first day, until they realize that Felacious Fridays is merely Monday in disguise and not *nearly* as fun as it sounded.
That's a nice site, but a little too positive for me. I find more inspiration in the jaded ramblings of the rejected. Don't ask me why; I'm not quite sure. But it seems like a great place for normal, adjusted people.
ReplyDeleteAvery, Avery...
ReplyDeleteOk, how 'bout this one?
"Writing is not necessarily something to be ashamed of, but do it in private and wash your hands afterwards." --Robert Heinlein
That's not bad. But, I really enjoyed the rejection letter response and the form letter response videos you posted. What can I say? Hostility speaks to me.
ReplyDeleteSorry, Edie. Like I said, your site is wonderful for well-adjusted people.
Avery, I like the hostile rejection videos, too, because they're so funny and express what I might be feeling in the moment. :) But then, I pull myself together, head on over to Edie's and find the strenght to keep going. :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that Author Prayer. Even better, the book was a collaboration and nobody had a diva complex. Uh oh. I smell another Chris Moore book coming on. :)
ReplyDeleteHey, Kate, glad you like the new site! And that prayer is terrific! Hope you have a great weekend too.
ReplyDeleteMarcia - I think you're right about another book! :)
ReplyDeleteHi, LaDonna! Good to see you. :)
Avery, that's okay if you prefer hostile rejection letters, you made me laugh. :)
