Currently reading...

"Hotter After Midnight" by Cynthia Eden.

Dr. Emily Drake's psychotherapy patients tend to be a little unusual. Instead of midlife crises and mother fixations, Emily treats vampires with blood phobias and sex-demons looking for meaningful relationships. But healing these powerful beings requires an important rule: Never trust a shifter. Especially not one like Detective Colin Gyth, whose gold-flecked eyes and predatory air make Emily realize how much she longs to lose control...Colin can't believe the doctor he has to work with on the Night Butcher murder case is the one person who could expose his true identity as a wolf shifter. Smart and sexy, Emily brings out the alpha male in Colin, unleashing a wild desire that takes them both over the edge...But in the shadows, the Night Butcher waits, eager to spill Emily's blood and taste her terror. And he'll use any means to destroy her, including the one person she has grown to trust...

So far, so good. A lot of cute riffs on her clients - a vampire who's afraid of blood, a succubus who wants to be seen as more than a sex object. I'm looking forward to finishing it tonight.

What's on your reading table right now?

  1. Now that sounds like an intense story. It's not the genre I generally choose, but perhaps my Lady might be interested. She's always on the watch for authors new to her.

  2. I read that, and loved it. Cindy writes intense, sexy books. I'm reading a women's fiction -- forget the title. I'm not enjoying it, and will look for something different.

  3. Travis, I don't know what she likes, but so far I'm enjoying this one. What genres does she usually read?

Edie, I'm a little embarrassed that I'm only just now getting around to this one. It's been on my TBR pile for a while. Now I'm really looking forward to Niol's story, which I think is the next book in this series. I fell for him from his first appearance even though he's not the main character. Big, bad, and sexy - just how I like 'em. :D

  4. I've been reading Howard Hughes' biography at work. I'm not a big biography fan, unless the person's a whack job in one way or another. The last one I read was on Tesla. Unfortunately I'm not even halfway through the Hughes book (which is HUGE,) he's already gone cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs & unfortunately, I'm finding it incredibly boring. It was more interesting before he lost it completely.

  5. If you like the first book, Kate, you're gonna like the rest. I love Cynthia's writing. Right now I'm reading an ARC of "Web of Lies" by Jennifer Estep. Pretty good so far.

  7. I'm reading a really sick and twisted book by Wrath James White called The Resurrectionist. While I like my horror and love the plot, this might be too much of a gore-fest even for me. I must be getting soft in my old age. ;-)

  10. Laughingwolf, that was the first Neil Gaiman book I ever read. I enjoyed it a lot. My favorite one of his was with Terry Pratchett (love him!) called "Good Omens."

  13. Wow! That sounds really good. I love horror, fantasy and sci fi, and this has many of these elements. Thanks for visiting my blog! I remember seeing you around before I went on hiatus to Arkansas for a year. You knew Susan Miller, correct? I miss her. She was an incredibly supportive personality.

Anyway, I'll visit again. Thanks for reading my poetry, it's always nice to hear the feedback and meet a fellow who has also suffered a bit at the hands of an over-zealous god squad. Not that I hold it against god for his followers being so nutty...

    Peace at ya~
